About me

I studied Aerospace Engineering (BSc) and Geoscience & Remote Sensing (MSc) at Delft University of Technology. Previously, I worked on deformation monitoring with satellite-borne radar remote sensing (SAR & InSAR), nitrogen deposition with gaussian plume models and extreme precipitation in a changing climate. Now at KNMI, I develop pressure observation techniques to measure jetstream winds.

Projects

In the project "Tracking Jetstream Winds", we aim to measure upper tropospheric jetstream winds by using pressure variations that are measured on ground-based microbarometers.

Research

I study winds above our heads through pressure signals measured at Earth's surface. Currently, I investigate internal gravity waves in the atmosphere. These waves can hold information about jetstream winds. I use beamforming techniques on arrays of surface microbarometers to estimate the direction and speed of arriving pressure signals.
