BSRN is a project of the Data and Analysis Panel from the Global Energy and Water Exchange (GEWEX) and as such is aimed at detecting important changes in the Earth's radiation field at the Earth's surface which may be related to climate changes. The data are of primary importance in supporting the validation and confirmation of satellite and computer model estimates of these quantities. At a small number of stations (currently 76 in total, 51 active, 9 declared as inactive, 16 are closed) in contrasting climatic zones, covering a latitude range from 80°N to 90°S (see station maps), solar and atmospheric radiation is measured with instruments of the highest available accuracy and with high time resolution (1 to 3 minutes). This snapshot contains the data as well as quality flags for all radiation data submitted to the BSRN archive until 2023-03-31.

NOTE TO USERS: The best way to view this data table is by clicking on "View dataset as HTML" (see below), you will then have the possibility to click on the station of interest to download the data files. You also have the possibility to download all zip files in one tar, but please be aware that this may take a while.
-----------------------------
Within the zip files the filenames are as follows:
sss_yyyy-mm_0100+0300_QC_combined.txt OR
sss_yyyy-mm_0100_QC_combined.txt
Where:
sss = station abbreviation
yyyy = year of measurement
mm = month of measurement
0100 or 0100+0300 = either only downward radiation fluxes included (0100) or also upward fluxes included (0100+0300)
QC_combined = Datafile including quality flags (for ERL, PPL and Comparison Test, see: https://bsrn.awi.de/fileadmin/user_upload/bsrn.awi.de/Publications/BSRN_recommended_QC_tests_V2.pdf)
