The ESSENCE project – the power of a large model ensemble

The ESSENCE project, a large-member model ensemble of future climate under greenhouse-gas forcing, is described and a few results are presented. These concern the time climate change can be detected, the occurence superstorms as an example of extreme weather events, and the changing wind climate in the Netherlands.
