Science communication has many forms: from being a guest on a talk show to sharing a photo on Instagram to conversations with your neighbor to writing a Klimaatbericht for the KNMI. What is science communication and why do we do it? How do KNMI-colleagues experience practicing climate communication? But also: who are we not reaching yet and how can we do this in meaningful ways? What are the interests, knowledge and values on climate change of several social groups? These and more questions will be answered during my lecture on March 14th.

CV

I recently graduated with a masters in Physics and Astronomy and a specialization in Science in Society. As a graduation research project I focused on social inclusion in science communication through museums. I am interested in the interactions of science in society, especially the natural sciences. Topics like climate change are fascinating to me due to their socio-scientific nature and its relevance to this day and age. During my studies I became familiar with the field of science communication and I helped organize the conference on Public Communication of Science and Technology in Rotterdam (2023). Currently, I am in the process of finishing my research project on climate science communication at KNMI and will be presenting the results on the EGU2024. After my KNMI project I would like to continue working in science communication research.
